Gluten-Free Smothered Turkey Wings

Essential Tools and Steps for Gluten-Free Smothered Turkey Wings

Disclaimer

These seasonal suggestions are a good starting point, but my real guide comes from the wisdom of our ancestors, which provides the perfect balance of flavors for each dish.

Ingredients

  • 6 turkey wings (wing and drum connected)
  • 2 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cups gluten-free chicken broth
  • 1 tsp Better Than Bouillon
  • 2 cans gluten-free cream of chicken soup
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)

Directions

Alright, Nolan’s Foodies, let’s get these turkey wings crawlin’ with flavor! First, toss those wings into your crockpot. Now, don’t be shy with the seasoning! Sprinkle ’em generously with Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and smoked paprika. Remember, let your ancestors be your guide – adjust those seasonings to your liking. You want these wings to be bursting with flavor.

Next, pile those red and green bell peppers and onions right on top of the wings. We’re building a flavor party in here!

In a bowl, whisk together some gluten-free chicken broth and Better Than Bouillon. Now, here’s the trick: pour that broth mixture along the sides of the turkey wings. You want to keep that seasoning you put on earlier intact. Period!

In another bowl, mix up your gluten-free cream of chicken soup and onion soup mix. Pour this creamy concoction right over the turkey wings. It’s gonna get all cozy and delicious in there.

Now, cover that crockpot and set it on HIGH. Let it cook for 5-6 hours. If you want those wings to be fall-off-the-bonetender, let ’em go for the full 6 hours. If you want ’em a little more firm, 5 hours will do the trick. It’s your call.

Halfway through the cooking time, stir in a tablespoon of cornstarch to thicken up that gravy. Now, here’s a little pro tip: I like to mix the cornstarch with a little bit of chicken broth before pouring it in. And if you want your gravy extra thick, go ahead and add a little more cornstarch. Don’t be afraid to get a little creative!

When those wings are done, they’re gonna be so tender and so flavorful, you won’t know what to do with yourself. The gravy will be rich and delicious, perfect for drizzling over rice or mashed potatoes. These turkey wings are gonna be the star of the show, trust me on that. Get ready to impress everybody with your culinary skills.
